💌 Love Letters
Our cherished MRGC community carries with them warm memories, treasured moments, and a deep appreciation for the time spent at Montessori of the Rio Grande Charter School. These reflections weave a beautiful story of connection and belonging that continues long after their days at MRGC.
In today’s newsletter, and in newsletters to come, we are honored to share a love letter to our beloved school. Alongside these stories, FOMF will also provide regular updates on how your generous donations and contributions are directly supporting and enriching the MRGC experience for every student.
Attending Montessori of the Rio Grande Charter School prepared me for both academic and real-world experiences in ways that many of my peers from other schools were not prepared for. My Montessori education fostered independence, critical thinking, and hands-on learning, which allowed me to take initiative in my own education and approach challenges with problem-solving skills rather than waiting for directions. Instead of being confined to teacher-led worksheets or lectures, I was given the freedom and trust to explore subjects at my own pace, which made learning engaging and enjoyable. Beyond academics, Montessori emphasized collaboration, respect, and responsibility which are skills that continue to shape how I interact with others and navigate the world around me. As a college student, I see the impact of these foundations in my strong reading comprehension, leadership abilities, and effective communication. These skills give me the confidence to answer professors’ questions, present in front of peers, and most importantly, advocate for myself. What I once assumed were basic skills, I now realize were intentionally nurtured by teachers who cared deeply about both my academic growth and personal development. As an alumna of MRGC, I can honestly say I always had educators who challenged me while also guiding me into the person I am today. Without my Montessori education, I would not be who I am today, nor would I be pursuing a career in education with the hope of giving back to the school that gave so much to me. Signed, Elise Lopez, 5th Grade Class of 2011
